Mentoring Fact Sheet PDF

The CIS/FC mentoring program pairs a caring adult with a child. Mentoring is a structured and trusted relationship that brings young people together with caring individuals who offer guidance, support and encouragement aimed at developing the competence and character of the child. We partnered with Bleckley County School System to recruit, train and monitor mentors paired with REACH Scholars.

The goals of the program include:

  • Ensure that the student receives support and guidance from a mentor
  • Improve academic performance
  • Improve interpersonal relationships with peers, teachers, other adults and family members.
  • Reduce school dropout rate
  • Reduce juvenile delinquency and gang involvement
  • We take great care in matching the mentor and the child he/she will be mentoring. We also provide a comprehensive training for our mentors.

For more information or to learn more about how you can become a mentor, please call Gretchen Wilson-Tuck, CIS/FC Site Coordinator at 478/934-4300.
